The Powerpuff Girls is a 2022 American live-action/animated action-adventure superhero comedy film directed by Matt Reeves, with a screenplay by Chris Terrio. It is the second film adaptation of the Cartoon Network animated television series The Powerpuff Girls (1998-2005) and a standalone sequel to The Powerpuff Girls Movie (2002). The film stars Will Ferrell, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sadie Sink, Mckenna Grace, Dafne Keen, Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Bagley, Courteney Cox, Jack Black, Anna Kendrick, Ben Schwartz, and Kelsey Grammer. The events of the film take place at the end of the franchise, as the Powerpuff Girls are in their teenage years as they stop their old arch-enemies from taking over the world.
Produced by Legendary Pictures, The Powerpuff Girls Movie was released in theaters on August 20, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.

- Mckenna Grace as Bubbles: The "softest and sweetest" of the three.
- Dafne Keen as Buttercup: The "tough hotheaded tomboy" of the three.
- Will Ferrell as Professor Utonium: A scientist who works in his home in the suburbs of the City of Townsville, and the Powerpuff Girls' creator and father.
- Benedict Cumberbatch as Mojo Jojo: A mad scientist anthropomorphic chimpanzee and the girls' arch-nemesis who leads other villains for the ultimate destruction of the girls in order to take over the world once and for all.
- Kelsey Grammer as The Mayor of Townsville: The cheerful, yet nameless, mayor of Townsville.
- Tom Hiddleston as HIM: A demon and the girls' other arch-nemesis who joins forces with Mojo to get rid of the girls.
- Mia Bagley as Princess Morbucks: A spoiled, rich, and bratty little girl and the girls' rival at high school.
- Anna Kendrick as Ms. Keane: The former teacher of Pokey Oaks Kindergarten and Midway Elementary School who is now the Powerpuff Girls' teacher at Townsville High School.
- Courteney Cox as Sedusa: A young, beautiful Gorgon-like mistress of disguise.
- Jessica Chastain as Miss Sara Bellum: The Mayor's secretary, who often handles issues that the Mayor cannot handle, in a way, is finding her attractive. This movie marks the first time her face isn't obscured.
- Jack Black as Fuzzy Lumpkins: A pink bear-like monster that is always seen playing a banjo which he calls it "Jo."
- Julian Dennison as Brick: Blossom's male counterpart and arch-rival.
- Jacob Tremblay as Boomer: Bubbles' male counterpart and arch-rival.
- Jack Dylan Grazer as Butch: Buttercup's male counterpart and arch-rival.
- Tom Kenny as the voice of Talking Dog: A small white dog who is blunt, abrasive and insulting around the girls.
- Ben Schwartz as The Narrator: The enthusiastic narrator of the movie, just like in the original show. Unlike the other installments in the franchise, his body is fully seen.
Music[]
The film's score is composed by John Debney. Debney also rewrites The original show's theme song, which plays throughout action scenes in the movie. In the beginning of the film, the reboot's theme song, "Who's Got the Power?" was covered by Lady Gaga. Two songs from The Powerpuff Girls Movie were covered in the film's end credits, "That's What Girls Do" was performed by Tori Kelly and "Powerpunk Girls" was performed by Green Day.
In July 17, 2022, it was announced that Debney composed the film's score by rewriting the score of Where the Wild Things Are, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man, Jurassic World, Zack Snyder's Justice League, Thor: Ragnarok, The Back to the Future Trilogy, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

- This movie takes place ten years after the events of the 2016-2019 reboot, as the girls are now teenagers and are attending high school, but still have their superpowers, all of the villains are still plotting to kill the girls and take over the world, and Mrs. Sara Bellum is re-hired as the Mayor's assistant.
