Twitchy is a character that appears in the The Powerpuff Girls comics published by DC Comics. He is a brown squirrel who gained superpowers after taking Chemical X.[1]
Appearance[]
Twitchy is a squirrel with brown fur and a white, lightning-bolt stripe on his tail. He has a white muzzle and a black nose. After gaining superpowers, Twitchy was given a red cape with a black stripe, giving him a similar appearance to The Powerpuff Girls.
History[]
Twitchy before getting superpowers
Twitchy was in a tree in a Townsville park when Buttercup uprooted the tree and attacked Mojo Jojo with it. Twitchy was flung out of the tree and into a pond, where Bubbles saved him from drowning. On her insistence, Twitchy was taken to the Utonium Residence where Bubbles convinced the Professor to keep him until he recovered. Twitchy was put into a shoebox bed and Bubbles gave him Chemical X to help him get better. The next morning, Twitchy had made a giant sculpture of Bubbles made entirely of acorns. The girls soon discovered Twitchy had obtained super powers, which included a supersonic bark, speed, strength, larger cheeks, and the ability to spit projectiles like bullets. After some convincing from Bubbles and Buttercup, Blossom welcomed Twitch as a member of The Powerpuff Girls, much to his approval.
Twitchy was given a red cape and joined the girls to fight a giant octo-monster. During it, he freed Blossom and Buttercup from the monster with his sonic bark and used his cheeks to spit out Bubbles into the monster like a cannonball. After the monster was defeated, Twitchy and the girls were honored by The Mayor at Townsville Hall. Twitchy was given the credit for defeating the monster. When the press started to take pictures, Twitchy became dazed and confused by the flashes. He let out a sonic bark in his panic, and then put The Mayor in his mouth, mistaking him for a peanut. Twitchy flew back to the Utonium Residence where the girls came as well. Bubbles told Twitchy to do a "cannonball", which caused him to spit out The Mayor into a tree. The girls thought Twitchy had become a bad squirrel, but Professor Utonium explained to them that he is just a wild animal and needs to return to nature.
Twitchy was taken back to the park where the girls found him, where he defeated a hawk who was terrorizing another squirrel. This caused the other squirrels to accept him and reassured The Powerpuff Girls that he would be fine on his own.[1]
Skills and Abilities[]
Thanks to the properties of Chemical X, Twitchy is able to fly, have super strength, and super speed. He cheeks are also able to hold more than an average squirrel, so much so an entire person can fit inside. Twitchy can also spit out objects very fast. This, with his super sized cheeks, makes him do his signature Cannonball move, in which he spits a Powerpuff girl out of his mouth at super speeds. Twitchy also has a supersonic bark that can disorient opponents.[1]
Personality[]
Twitchy is a wild animal at heart and can react in a disorderly manner. For example, when he got flashed by the press, he put The Mayor in his mouth and wouldn't let him out until Bubbles told him to. He does have a strong sense of justice, as he was able to fight a monster with the girls and defeated a hawk who was harassing other squirrels. Twitchy can also so affection, as he built a giant sculpture of Bubbles after she helped heal him.
