The Gangreen Gang (Japanese: ギャングリーンギャング Gyangurīn Gyangu) are recurring villains in Powerpuff Girls Z. They are based on The Gangreen Gang from the original 1998 series.
Members[]
Ace[]

Ace
Ace (Japanese: エース Ēsu?) remains the leader of the Gangreen Gang. He wears a tattered white t-shirt, yellow and orange wristbands, and a red and blue vest. His hair also has green tints in it. He lives with both of his parents, though he seems apathetic towards them as they are constantly arguing. He attacks by throwing playing cards (a nod to his name). In the English dub, he is renamed Bobby Green by the 50th episode. He is voiced by Mitsuaki Madono in Japanese and Andrew Francis in English. The English dub does not retain his 1998 counterpart's New York accent.
Snake[]

Snake
Snake (Japanese: スネーク Sunēku?) has the same sharp pointy nose and black lips as their 1998 counterpart, though an overall less obviously serpentine design. They have blue wavy hair covering one eye and wear a sailor outfit. In the original Japanese, Snake is male and retains his original name, while the English dub renames them to "Ivy" and depicts them as a girl. Snake is hinted to have a crush on Ace in episode 14 (Attack of the Gangreen Gang). They come from a wealthy family and spend much of their time on the computer. In fact, this computer addiction is what their father believes is the cause of their green skin ("16 hours? No wonder he's turning green.") and his mother are mentionned. They also possess the ability to put people to sleep by rubbing their legs. They were voiced by Koki Miyata in Japanese and Tabitha St. Germain in the English dub.
Big Billy[]

Big Billy
Big Billy (Japanese: ビッグ・ビリー Biggu Birī?) wears a white one-shoulder shirt and spiked wristbands and still wears blue jeans. He also has brown hair and, unlike his original counterpart, one eye always visible through his hair. He is not as dumb as his American counterpart. He lives with his mother, who may be his only parent as his father is neither seen or mentioned. His special ability is his immense strength. Big Billy is known as Big Boy in the English dub after the 50th episode. He is voiced by Toshiharu Sakurai in Japanese and Richard Ian Cox in English.
Lil Arturo[]

Lil Arturo (Japanese: リトル・アートロ Ritoru Ātoro?) is female in the Japanese dub, but remains male in the English dub. They perhaps resembles their original counterpart the least. They have green hair, no nose, and yellow eyes with black scleras. They wear a lavender tank top, purple skirt, and pink bandana. They come from a very large family, though all of their relatives (parents and fraternity) share the same small stature. Lil Arturo has super speed, though this ability seems limited. In episode 50 of the English dub, they are renamed Weevil. They are voiced by Keiko Yamamoto in Japanese and Maryke Hendrikse in English. Like with Ace, the English dub does not retain Arturo's American counterpart's accent.
Grubber[]

Grubber
Grubber (Japanese: グラバー Gurabā?) looks very similar to the original Grubber, but he doesn't have a nose, he doesn't communicate with blowing raspberries, and his eyes don't pop out of his head. Grubber lives with his father and his mother are mentionned, who speaks and looks nearly identical to him (albeit without green skin). He can shapeshift by twisting his hair but keeps his green skin and purple eyes, making it so easy to see through it's practically useless. The only time this trick worked successfully was when he turned into Ace due to Ace's similar green skin. He is renamed Lunk by episode 50 of the English dub. He is voiced by Koichi Tochika in Japanese and Peter New in English.

Trivia[]
- In the English dub, all of the members (except Snake) had their original names from the original Powerpuff Girls series in their first appearances (Ace, Grubber, etc.) but were later changed (Bobby Green, Lunk, etc.).
- Snake and Arturo are portrayed as females, with Snake even being renamed to Ivy.
- Aside from genderswapping and renaming, there are still many changes in The Gangreen Gang, from the original characters to the anime.
- In the original series, the Gangreen Gang had white teeth and their tongues would be either green or pink (with the exception of Grubber). In the anime, they had yellow teeth and their tongues were always pink. Also, their skin is a darker shade of green and they have no "moles."
- Also, each member comes from a family like them, only without the green skin.
- This version of the Gang has their hideout as an abandoned apartment in the city, unlike the originals who hung out in a shack at the city dump. Also, this version actually spends time with their respective families, while the originals did not seem to even have families.
