The fifth season of the series was produced from 2002 to 2003. It is the first season after the movie, and also the first without any involvement from Craig McCracken. Chris Savino took his place as showrunner. The first three episodes were produced separately from the rest of the season in 2002, having the same visual style as the movie. When production resumed in 2003 for the rest of season 5, the series took on a slightly different look used for the remainder of its run. Season 5 is the longest season, having 30 episodes (including three 22-minute specials and a 44-minute Christmas special). It also took the longest to produce and air. The season aired from December 6, 2002 to April 9, 2004. Four episodes remained unaired in the United States until 2005. One of the specials, "See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey" was unaired in the United States, not seeing a release until the Complete Series DVD in 2009.
