"Monkey See, Doggie Do" is the first episode of Season 1.

It first aired on Cartoon Network in the United States on November 18, 1998.

Summary[]

Mojo Jojo gets out of control with a weapon that turns everyone into dogs, including the Powerpuff Girls.

Plot[]

It's night time in the city of Townsville, and everyone is sleeping, getting ready for tomorrow. However, someone isn't sleeping, and that someone has cleverly stolen a dog-headed Anubis bust, along with a pair of rubies, from the Townsville Museum.

The next day, the Powerpuff Girls investigate the crime scene, and they discover the Anubial Jewels have been stolen. The scene transitions to an observatory atop an inactive volcano, where the thief is revealed to be Mojo Jojo, a talking chimpanzee wearing a tunic, a metal turban-styled helmet that covers his mutated brain, and talks with repetition. He combines the Anubis head with the Anubial Jewels, putting his plan into motion. Around the same time, the girls fly out of the Museum to look for the thief's trail. They find a dog (a Jack Russell Terrier) trapped in a car parked at Malph's. They free the dog, who then asks for help. Shocked the dog is talking, the girls ask who trapped him in there. The dog trails off into barking. The girls think this is weird; they then look to see the entire city populated by dogs (among the dogs that appeared in this scene was a Collie, Bullmastiff, St. Bernard and various terrier mixes). Blossom comments on how strange this is. Then, Buttercup notices the Powerpuff signal in the sky, and the trio heads over to Townsville Hall, where the girls find that the Mayor and Ms. Bellum have been turned into dogs. The Mayor tries to inform the girls who is behind all this before he trails off into a barking terrier. Bubbles starts to pet the Mayor's belly as Blossom says they need to see the Professor. The girls fly out of the office over to their house.

It turns out Mojo has been busy turning all of Townsville into dogs. After doing so, he hypnotizes a large group of dogs into obeying his every command. Around the same time, the Powerpuff Girls arrive too late and find the Professor as a small black and white dog. He tries to tell them what happened, but all he can do is bark. The girls see he was asking for water. They get him some, and he barks again. Buttercup, irked, plays fetch with him. Back at Mojo's Lair, a group of hypnotized Muttaloids steal enough Jewels for Mojo to turn the entire world into dogs. Meanwhile, the Professor fetches his pipe, and tells the girls who did it: "Bow-wow Wow-wow". Blossom thinks he said it was Mojo Jojo, to which the Professor confirms with a single "Bow". The girls then fly on over to the observatory. While they fly, Mojo finally turns the entire world into dogs with his superpowered Anubis Head. When the girls arrive, Mojo Jojo turns them into dogs, or as the ape calls them, "Powerpups". He commands them to stay, but Blossom then notices the bust is responsible for this mess, and that the only way to break the spell is to break the bust. They attempt to throw the head off the dome, but Mojo catches it before it could break. He orders his Dobermans to fight the girls. After winning the dog fight, the girls gang up on Mojo. Mojo jumps on his controls to keep out of the girls' reach. Buttercup then realizes he's on the stairs, and she runs around the machine to bite Mojo on his butt. Yelling in pain, Mojo lets go of the bust, which breaks on his helmet, causing the spell to be broken. The girls become humans again, along with everyone else, but at a price—turning Mojo into a dog himself.

Sometime later at the Powerpuff Girls' home, the girls ask the Professor if they could keep the dog Mojo Jojo. He answers, "It’s a big responsibility keeping an evil villain in the house. You’ve got to feed him, water him, take him for walks, keep him from causing mayhem and chaos, and chewing the furniture." The episode ends with the Narrator pretending to be a dog and saying "Ha, ha! Fooled you. So once again the day is saved, thanks to the Powerpuff Girls."

[He tries to finish the sentence, but is stopped when his head becomes a dog head and starts barking.]
Bubbles: Puppy!
[She kneels down and begins to play with the Mayor.]
Narrator: Doggone you, Mojo Jojo! How dare you turn man into man’s best friend, you evil—
[As the Narrator says this, Mojo looks at the camera with annoyance and anger, before he points the statue at the camera and shoots a beam. The Narrator screams, then stops talking and starts barking. Mojo laughs evilly at having even turned the Narrator into a canine as well.]
[The Girls break into the observatory]
Blossom: Not so fast—
Buttercup: Mojo—
Bubbles: Jojo.
[They're hit by the beam]
Mojo: Too late, Powerpuffs, (The Girls are now dogs) or should I say, “Powerpups?"
