Major Man is a character in The Powerpuff Girls who appears in the episode "Major Competition".

He was a phony superhero who briefly replaced the Powerpuff Girls as the City of Townsville's resident hero. Despite his impressive physique and wide array of genuine superpowers, he was in fact a spineless coward who set up all the disasters and crimes he appeared to resolve, regardless of who was harmed, to obtain fame and glory.

Having witnessed the truth behind Major Man's heroism, the Powerpuff Girls called in a favor from the gigantic monster Fred to launch a fake attack on Townsville, forcing Major Man to deal with a legitimate threat and reducing him to a sobbering mess begging for help. Revealing the truth behind his deception to the girls and the entire city, Major Man was immediately kicked out of town, leaving the Powerpuff Girls to resume their roles as its rightful protectors (despite having ironically faked the monster attack to out Major Man).

Trivia

  • Major Man strongly resembles fellow Cartoon Network star Johnny Bravo, who was also voiced by Jeff Glen Bennett.
    • Major Man also shares similarities to Major Glory, as they are both attention-seeking and half-baked parodies of Captain America and Superman. Their difference is that Major Glory cares about the innocence of the world, is of heroic intentions and is competent enough to fight the majority of monsters and supervillains, while Major Man only pretends to save people for his own causes, such as fame and money, to the point of competing with the girls until the revelation that he was a fraud.
  • These are all of Major Man's "rescue" acts and how they are explained:
    • The giant fire: Major Man started it.
    • The robber and the old lady: Played by his cousin and his grandmother.
    • The train wreck: Major Man bent the tracks.
    • The man in a wheelchair: Not directly explained, but it is assumed that Major Man threw the banana peel on which the man's wheelchair slipped.
    • The thugs who attacked the old man: Major Man paid them to do it.
    • The dog almost gets killed on the street by vehicles: Major Man kicked the dog into the street (the Powerpuff Girls witnessed this from above the clouds).
