Julia Vickerman is known for her work on The Powerpuff Girls (2016 TV series). She was also the creator of the short-lived 2019 cartoon Twelve Forever.
Controversy[]
In 2010, when Julia was 25, she admitted to stalking a 14-year-old boy at a county fair on her Tumblr.
In the fall of 2019, shortly after the release of Twelve Forever, this information was discovered by fans, and Julia was outed as a hebephile.
Her series Twelve Forever was cancelled on the spot (the series' chances of renewal were already low due to minimal advertisement and its animation department shutting down).
In the wake of this information coming to light, Twelve Forever and episodes of the Powerpuff Girls reboot that Julia worked on were viewed as particularly disturbing in this new context, what with her episode Painbow featuring Blossom and Bubbles twerking, and Twelve Forever being a quite detailed look at a 12-year-old girl's journey through puberty.
As a result, neither of the cartoons that Julia was involved with are remembered particularly fondly.
Apology and Fine[]
On February 25, 2023, Julia was fined for $3,000 in the Supreme Court due to the crimes being charged. After Vickerman pleaded not guilty, Netflix made her apologize to everyone who worked on Twelve Forever, thinking everything would be forgiven. Despite this, Shadi Petosky and the rest of the crew working on Twelve Forever did not forgive her and parted ways with Julia.
