Elmer Skloo is a character in The Powerpuff Girls. He is a student in Pokey Oaks Kindergarten. His most notable appearance was in "Paste Makes Waste", where he was picked on by his fellow students because he was eating paste. Later in the episode, he became a giant monster and took his revenge out on the city of Townsville. He befriended Buttercup at the end when she apologized for making fun of him.
His name is a pun on the glue brand Elmer's Glue, with "-kloo" being a misspelling of "-glue".
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Elmer Skloo has a single lock of curly hair on his forehead, and wears round, opaque glasses. He wears a dark green sweater and blue pants. His design was slightly changed during the last two seasons of the show; he was given a round head.
As a paste monster, Elmer is a massive being made entirely of white, sticky, flowing paste. In contrast with the larger head and smaller body proportion of his original self, his torso is much larger. The interior of his mouth is yellow. Other than these changes, Elmer largely retains a humanoid form, as well as his signature glasses and hair lock.
History[]
Elmer's debut and most notable appearance is in Paste Makes Waste. In it, he is seen eating the paste that is meant to be used for the class's craft activities. Most of the other students, notably Mitch Mitchelson and Buttercup, bully him due to his habit. Buttercup in particular had brought him to tears after she lobbed paste directly at him. Ms. Keane demanded Buttercup to apologize to Elmer, but Buttercup refused to do so. The bell rings for recess, and all the students but Elmer immediately leave. Ms. Keane tells Elmer that the other kids' actions were wrong, but that he should not eat paste.
At recess, Elmer is sitting alone with his paste. He laments to himself about Mitch and Buttercup, in particular the latter's superpowers. He says he'd be cool if he had powers. A mutated fly lands in his paste as he is grabbing a handful, and he eats the paste with the fly in it. As Mitch, Lloyd, and Floyd return to make fun of Elmer again, they notice that he has transformed into a monster made of paste.
Elmer goes on a rampage, starting by trapping the other students with his fingers, getting his revenge on them for bullying him. He then uses his pasty body to stick Lloyd, Floyd, Mitch to other objects. Elmer variously destroys the buildings in Townsville. He hot-glues Ms. Keane, Blossom, and Bubbles to a wall. Buttercup frees her sisters so they can fight Elmer, but this proves no use as his pasty biology allows him to move or regenerate all of his body parts to avoid and recover from their attacks. Buttercup is left with no choice but to apologize to Elmer for her earlier actions. She does so; Elmer says that all he wanted was to hear her apologize to him.
Elmer is then seen giving the paste of his body to help repair the broken buildings in Townsville. Buttercup thanks him for helping repair Townsville. His friendship with Buttercup now amended, he tells Buttercup she is cool. Buttercup replies "Yeah. Let's stick together.", ending the episode.
