DC The Powerpuff Girls Issue 20 is the twentieth issue of the The Powerpuff Girls comic series published by DC Comics. It was published on December 1, 2001 and licensed by Cartoon Network.

Synopsis[]

During a battle with Princess Morbucks, Blossom loses her bow in the bushes. Buttercup and Bubbles are annoyed that Blossom makes such a big deal out of her bow. The next morning, Buttercup tricks Blossom by wearing the bow herself, thus making her ”The Commander and the Leader”. When Blossom gets her bow back from Buttercup, she realizes it's what's on the inside that makes her special, not the look on the outside (which includes her bow).

Plot[]

The Powerpuff Girls are fighting Princess Morbucks, when Blossom's bow is knocked off her head by a laser. She panics and starts frantically looking in the bushes, to the annoyance of her sisters and the amusement of Princess. Buttercup knocks Princess out with a chunk of the ground. Bubbles soon finds Blossom's bow, and Blossom snatches it back greedily before looking at her sisters sheepishly.

That night, Bubbles is telling the Professor about their showdown with Princess. When she gets to the part where Blossom freaked out about losing her bow, Blossom gets embarrassed. Buttercup then teases Blossom about her overreaction, causing her to snap and scream at them both. The Professor scolds her and tells them go to bed. While giving them goodnight kisses, Blossom warns him to be careful with her bow, to her sisters' discontent.

The next morning, Bubbles and Buttercup are awakened by Blossom shrieking. She has lost her bow again. Buttercup finds it first and decides to wear it, infuriating Blossom. Blossom chases her around the house, when the hotline starts to ring. Buttercup takes the phone instead of Blossom, and the latter is upset, because she's usually the one to do that. In Townsville, Mojo Jojo is rampaging around with a robot. He brags about it to the Girls, but for once, Blossom can't think of a good comeback. Buttercup gives him an awesome retort instead, to Blossom's dismay. Mojo notices a difference between the two (that Buttercup is wearing Blossom's bow), but he can't quite put his finger on it and he blasts Blossom to the ground. The other two girls beat him up and remind Blossom that they're late to school, and off they go.

The class is having Show-and-Tell, and a girl shows off her favorite doll, which has a bow that looks exactly like Blossom's, only blue. Blossom loses control of herself for a bit and grabs the doll away, much to the shock of the class. In prison, Mojo is still asking himself how the Girls were different than usual. He acknowledges that Blossom wasn't up to snuff that day, before realizing that it was because Buttercup had her bow.

Back in class, Ms. Keane is about to talk to Blossom about her outburst, when the hotline rings suddenly. Blossom, not wanting to be outdone by Buttercup again, races to the phone and tells the Mayor that they're on their way. However, she forgets to ask what the trouble is. At the crime scene, the Mayor and Ms. Bellum are tied up. When the girls arrive, Mojo steals the bow from Buttercup and puts it on his head, boasting that he is now invincible. Bubbles has had enough of this, and slaps Mojo before returning the bow to Blossom and informing her that she's still their leader with or without that bow. Blossom gets the message, and they all defeat Mojo together.
