"Cootie Gras" is the 18th episode of season 2, and the 42nd episode overall.
It was produced in 1999 but aired in the United States on March 17, 2000 as part of Cartoon Cartoon Fridays.
Plot[]
During a romantic day in Townsville, Harry Pitt, a student at Pokey Oaks Kindergarten, starts chasing everyone around trying to kiss them. The popular belief, however, is that he has cooties, and everyone desperately flees the mayhem that is Harry Pitt. The girls, uncertain of what cooties are, or what to make of this hysteria, decide to flee; Bubbles decides to not try to take any chances of handling the situation. Meanwhile, Mojo Jojo oversees this event as it unfolds, and determined to find a perfect weapon for his crimes, he meets Harry and they team up to terrorize Townsville.
Meanwhile, the girls are uncertain of what would happen to them from cootie exposure and are troubled as to how they will handle a similar situation. They go to bed that night having nightmares of Harry having them at their mercy.
The next day, the girls awaken to a hotline call dispatching them to a bank robbery perpetrated by Mojo. As they arrive, he proudly presents his new partner to the girls, intimidating them into retreat.
A fear-induced crime spree imbues Mojo with so much criminal success that his demonstration of scaring the girls during a mugging helps him to obtain the allegiance of two mobsters.
Together, Mojo Jojo, Harry Pitt, and the mobsters pull off all sorts of successful heists while the girls stay well out of their way in fear of Harry. Eventually, the mayor is held hostage at city hall. Responding to a forced hotline call made at gunpoint, the girls arrive at the scene, Mojo lets open a trap door into which they fall into a deep pit. Mojo drops Harry down into the pit with them. Harry once again starts chasing the girls around the pit so he can kiss them. After a while, Blossom gets separated from the other two, and is cornered by Harry. With nowhere to run, Blossoms falls to the ground in defeat, and Harry plants a kiss on her cheek. Of course, nothing happens to her, which makes her and the other girls realize the truth that cooties aren't real and that the fear was all just in their imaginations. The tables now turned, all three girls move in on Harry, their faces now beaming as they call him a cutie. With him now cornered, the girls proceed to kiss Harry repeatedly all over the face before flying out of the pit to beat up Mojo. Harry is left behind in the pit, his face is now covered with multiple red lipstick marks and happy to have had his affections reciprocated. Mojo goes to jail, but this time, his prison mate is smiling creepily at him. This can only mean really bad news for Mojo.

Trivia[]
- This episode premiered in the United States on Saint Patrick's Day (March 17).
- This episode aired in some countries before the United States.[1]
- This episode premiered in Australia on November 26, 1999.
- This episode premiered in Canada on December 11, 1999.
- This episode premiered in the United Kingdom on January 16, 2000.
- Due to the fact that the girls kissing the Rowdyruff Boys are what destroyed them, their fear of cooties is possibly out of fear that the same thing might happen to them.
- Ironically, in this episode, Buttercup had no complaints about joining in on kissing Harry, despite previously expressing disgust at having to kiss Butch (there may be a difference to her when it comes to kissing a supervillain over a classmate).
- Coincidentally, both Harry and the Rowdyruff Boys were used by Mojo to defeat the girls.
- This is also the second time that the girls kissed someone together.
- Both the movies The Godfather and Scarface are referenced in this episode.
- A couple shown at the beginning of this episode can also be found on a poster in the episode "Mime for a Change".
- This is the second episode where a background character plays an important role. The first one was "Paste Makes Waste".
- This episode shows a slow-motion scene for the third time. The first two being "Uh-Oh, Dynamo" and "Mo Job".
- This is the first episode in which a character gets his face covered in red lipstick marks after being kissed by a female character. The next one is "Something's a Ms.".
- This episode evidently implies that the girls wear red lipstick.
- Out of the three girls, Harry focuses a lot of his attention on Blossom when she and her sisters are trapped in the pit with him, which may imply that he might have a crush on her. Interestingly, Blossom seems to be the one who kissed Harry the most when she and her sisters smooched him up in the end. This suggests that she herself had perhaps developed a crush on him even if it lasted for one episode.
- This is the first time the Powerpuff Girls had a nightmare, the second and third one is "Power-Noia" and "Night Mayor".
- Moral: There is no such thing as cooties, and try not to believe everything that you hear.
Goofs[]
- In one scene where the new place of residence for Mojo Jojo is presented the logo of the building is spelled "Mojo's Managemint".
- When the girls arrive at the bank to stop Mojo, Blossom has Buttercup's bangs.
- The girls seem to forget that can fly out of the pit when they are dropped in with Harry, which they immediately do only after discovering the truth about cooties and kissing Harry.
- After being kissed repeatedly by the girls, Harry's face is left covered in red lipstick marks, despite the girls not being shown wearing lipstick. (though this is most likely for exaggerated comedic reasons).
- The girls spend about ten seconds kissing Harry all over his face, and yet there are only about seven lipstick marks shown.
- After being kissed by the girls, there are seven red lipstick marks on Harry's face. When the scene cuts to a close up on his face, there are only six, as the one on the right side of his nose is missing.
- When the girls say "Come here cutie!" To Harry, Blossom has Buttercup's voice, meaning Buttercup has Blossom's voice during that part.
- When the girls wake up from the nightmare, the girls are in their normal clothes in the bed, not their nightgowns.
