"City of Clipsville" is the 22nd episode of Season 5. It is the 106th episode overall and aired on November 25, 2003.
It is done in the style of a clip show, an episode of a television series that consists primarily of excerpts from previous episodes, although not all the excerpts are from actual episodes.
Synopsis[]
The Powerpuff Girls are cleaning out their closet when Buttercup finds her old lucky blanket. The girls remember the time that they had first seen Buttercup with it and how they had chased her around the house to get a better look at it (Cover Up). Then Bubbles remembers the time when Mojo Jojo turned them into dogs (Monkey See, Doggie Do) and Blossom remembers when he tried it again (Monkey See, Doggy Two).
The girls also remember the time when the Professor turned them and everyone else in Townsville into babies and the time when they lost their superpowers (See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey).
Buttercup also remembers when they sped up time and aged themselves into teenagers, and during their time as teenagers, the sisters had chosen to give up their crime-fighting lifestyles and live like normal teenagers--this included things like becoming more interested in fashion, wearing makeup and spending their free time hanging out at the mall. And it was at the Townsville Mall that they met the teen Rowdyruff Boys, who apparantly gave up their lives of crime to also live like normal teenagers, and organized a triple date with them. While the girls and the boys were organizing their date, chaos struck Townsville as crooks and monsters attacked it with no one to stop them, including the mall, right behind the girls and boys with them taking no notice to it.
The girls then become aware that the Professor is watching them. The Professor tells them about the time when he renewed his driver's license, which the girls find boring. Then Blossom remembers the time when the Professor got married to Ms. Sara Bellum, but it turned out to be Mojo Jojo under her hair. As the Professor stops them from talking about it, all four of them see Mayor with them, who wonders why it isn't his own house they are at. Then he tells them about when he remembered the thing that was happening now and when the Professor made him a giant pickle (which never happened). Suddenly everyone turns up and remembers things.
Later, the Powerpuff Girls and the Professor are sitting at their kitchen, drinking hot chocolate, remembering all the events that happened in the episode. Also, the narrator ends the show by remembering how at the end of every Powerpuff Girls episode, he'd say "So once again, the day is saved, thanks to the Powerpuff Girls."

Trivia[]
- Although most episodes premiered on Fridays, this episode (along with "Seed No Evil") premiered on a Tuesday, as part of Cartoon Network's "November Premieres" block, where a new episode of a Cartoon Cartoon would premiere on a random weekday throughout the month.
- In the clip that showed the sisters as teenagers, Buttercup's cell phone number is revealed to be 555-1568.
- This episode only shows three clips from actual episodes ("Monkey See, Doggie Do", "Cover Up", and "Monkey See, Doggy Two") while the rest are clips made specifically for the episode, and are, therefore, non-canonical to the series. The entire episode is shown to a clip itself, making the entire episode non-canon as well.
- The episode ends with text that says "The Powerpuff Girls was drawn before a live studio audience, in Burbank, California.", which spoofs the endings of 1970's sitcoms such as All in the Family. Burbank, California is also where Warner Bros. Studios, as well as Cartoon Network Studios, is located.
- At the end of the episode, a laugh track is heard. This is a reference to sitcoms that normally have clip shows, and also spoofs Hanna-Barbera cartoons that use laugh tracks such as The Flintstones or Scooby-Doo.
- The girls actually have navels as seen in the teenage flashback, even though they weren't visible in other times they bared their midriffs as evidenced in episodes such as Mommy Fearest, Uh-Oh, Dynamo, Down 'n' Dirty, Sun Scream, Superfriends, Fuzzy Logic, & Nano of the North, along with The Powerpuff Girls Movie.
- In the original storyboard, there was going to be an extended scene where the teenage Powerpuff Girls act as pop stars, but that scene was scrapped by Cartoon Network due to a suggestively inappropriate scene in the last panel of the storyboard showing them smacking their butts while twerking. It is also revealed in this storyboard that the girls are 15 years old in this segment.
- In the wedding flashback, the church organ slowly plays the variation of The Powerpuff Girls theme before it suddenly switches to playing sinister music as the bride, who has what appears to be Ms. Bellum's hair, is revealed to be Mojo Jojo.
Errors[]
- Revealing error: When Ms. Bellum and the Professor get married, it is obviously wrong, since in the episode "Speed Demon", Ms. Bellum (in the future) yells "Get away he's mine I tell you! Mine!", which means that Ms. Bellum officially loves the Mayor, not the Professor. This may be a hint that this bride is not actually Ms. Bellum.
- When Boomer says "hangin' out", his and Bubbles' mouths are moving.
- When Brick and Butch approach Blossom and Buttercup, respectively, Butch is the same height as Buttercup. When it cuts to just the two of them, Butch is taller than Buttercup.
- In the scene where the girls are babies, Blossom's diaper is empty in the cut immediately after she fills it.
