Bunny is a one-time character in The Powerpuff Girls, appearing only in the episode "Twisted Sister". She is a short-lived fourth Powerpuff Girl, created by the Powerpuff Girls themselves. Just as each of the other Powerpuff Girls has a signature color, hers is lilac.

Profile

Appearance

Bunny is rather large and tall, unlike the Powerpuff Girls who are short and stubby. Her body shape is top-heavy, being overall lightbulb-shaped. In contrast with the Girls' lips which consist of simple black lines, Bunny's lips are large, red, and sausage-shaped. Also unlike the other Girls, Bunny's teeth are yellowed, misshapen, and widely spaced (with one being a stray tooth).

Otherwise, Bunny shares many physical traits with the other Girls. She has large purple eyes with black pupils, bright peach skin, and messy brown hair tied in a ponytail by a black hair-twister. She wears a purple dress with a black stripe, white stockings, and black Mary Jane shoes.

Personality

As both a newborn and being made using low-quality substitute ingredients, Bunny is rather dimwitted and has trouble understanding simple things. While Blossom was telling her about crime-fighting, Bunny spaced out a bit. She misunderstood her sisters' orders to defeat villains and instead beat up cops.

Bunny does not talk much aside from mumbling, and as such, it can be hard to understand what she is saying. She speaks in the third person and her grammar is quite poor.

Despite all this, Bunny is well-meaning and friendly. She gave her sisters a big hug after they introduced themselves to her. She flew off in tearful remorse after the girls scolded her for what she had done. Despite them disowning her, she still went back to save them when they were at the mercy of many escaped convicts.

Story

In the episode "Twisted Sister", the Girls sneak into the lab and create a fourth Powerpuff Girl named Bunny so that they can ease the burden of saving Townsville by themselves, which by then had grown overwhelming for the three of them. Because they cannot find the real ingredients, the Girls create Bunny by using various objects substituting those which they were made from (artificial sweetener instead of sugar, dirt and twigs instead of spices, and what the Girls considered to be "everything nice" as defined by their disparate personalities). The Chemical X is added to the mix "accidentally" along with the beaker containing it.

Due to the liberties taken in her creation, Bunny turns out grotesquely malformed compared to the Girls. While she possesses the same powers and a similar color theme (having purple eyes and a purple dress to match), she has a hulking build and a hunched back, along with an extremely weak genetic structure. She cannot not speak in complete English, so Bubbles gives her the name Bunny (although Buttercup named her Braces at first, because of her crooked teeth, much to Blossom's disapproval).

Bunny wants to please her sisters, but is unaware of her own size and strength, and has some trouble communicating with and understanding them. However, despite this, they let Bunny join them in fighting crime. When Bunny starts her first day of crime-fighting, she thinks that having a gun makes a person a criminal, and when she alone confronts two cops taking in two crooks and brandishing guns, she throws the cops into jail and starts to release criminals, thinking they are good people.

The Girls scold Bunny for her mishaps, causing her to become sad and fly away. They are then confronted by every convict Bunny released throughout the episode. To redeem herself and save the Girls, Bunny defeats every criminal herself. However, after defeating the criminals, her genetic structure fails completely and her body literally falls apart, exploding in a silent flash of light. After this, a piece of her dress falls to the ground as the Girls kneel to it in mourning.

Special Abilities

Bunny is capable of causing earthquakes while jumping. This was shown when she knocked her sisters to the ground with her jumps, as her jumps caused great tremors in the ground. This is likely an unintended application of her tall, large size. Bunny also has the ability to fly, as do her sisters. Bunny's abilities other than those two used are unknown.

Trivia

  • She was intended to be based on Dr. Frankenstein's monster.
  • The Professor never interacted with Bunny, being completely unaware the girls were attempting to replicate his experiment that lead to their birth.
  • Bunny is somewhat similar to a Marvel comics superhero, The Incredible Hulk, mainly due to her speaking in third person and her super strength.
  • Bunny was shown to have at least one ear, unlike the Powerpuff Girls who do not appear to have any.
  • Bunny does Blossom's signature pose at the end of the episode as the narrator declares that she has saved the day once.
  • In Powerpuff Girls Z, Duchess Morbucks appears to be based slightly on Bunny's character. She also has brunette hair, purple eyes, and outfit. The similarities end there though, as her personality is more similar to Princess Morbucks in that she is a supervillain who paid another supervillain to help her fight the Powerpuff Girls.
  • Bunny appears on the DVD cover "Twisted Sister" holding the girls.
  • Bunny is second character to die in her debut episode, with the first ones being the Rowdyruff Boys in the episode of the same name (later being revived by HIM in "The Boys Are Back in Town") and Dick Hardly in "Knock It Off".
    • Furthermore, just like the Rowdyruff Boys, she died from an explosion.
      • She was the only good character to die on the show.
