Roach Coach only got one major role in an episode, his debut in Insect Inside. Yet he somehow earned a mention in the full version of The Powerpuff Girls ending theme. Combined with him being such an early villain in the series, it's really likely he was meant to have more roles as it went on. I guess the writers had trouble figuring out what else they could do with him, kind of like what happened to Sedusa.

Going further, the reboot's villain The Gnat is very similar to the Roach Coach, being an insect that controls all sorts of robotic vehicles. Although, that leans more toward the reboot's redundancy with its new villains. The Gnat definitely could have just been the Roach Coach instead of a new character.

Hm... could use Bunny's lips. & definitely use a square brush (or some other precise digital drawing method) instead of a circle brush for drawing elements like the teeth.

I could imagine the Rowdyruff Boys beating up Townsville's other destruction-doers, but only because they want to do all the town-trashing themselves. Or maybe they could be set off by Dooks of Doom inadvertently destroying the burger shop they like to steal from.

I agree completely that the reboot needed some things changed to be bearable in the least, but a lot of this is just "remove/don't do X".

I get that episodes like Painbow were bad as they came out, but that doesn't mean they can't be changed to be good; if Allegro had the PPGs do anything instead of twerking, most people would find him a perfectly suitable villain for the show.

Likewise, the "No Me Gusta" moment was bad only because the writers meshed two unrelated memes together; if they just had Bubbles do the face but not say anything, or say "no me gusta" without making the "NO." face, it would have been an okay joke.

It would be interesting if you had any specific ideas for what the show would do with Ms. Bellum if she stayed around.

On one hand, the concept behind Powerpuff could have worked very well - the Girls being grown up, lost in purpose thanks to life drama, would easily be the base of a great storyline, even though the original series never took itself that seriously.

On the other hand, going by how The CW did it - retconning the original into a fictional cartoon just to make way for some of the new characters, most of the conflicts being overplayed cliches that don't fit the bigger series story, & the many many mentions of real products that no one asked to hear about - it's clear the series wasn't going to be any good, as much as we needed any kind of extension to the franchise (& still do).

I agree, it's clear that the 2016 writers did not consider the lore points of the previous series when making their own. However, I don't think they're impossible to reconcile, if one is willing to consider the spoken word & imagery from the 1998 series and 2016 series at a purely literal level, and use some convoluted technicalities to explain facts shown in the 2016 series that seem to contradict the prior story.

For example, take the three carved windows in the Professor's house in the flashback of Bliss's story. The Movie showed us that those weren't there prior to the Girls' creation, but who said the three carvings in the flashback are the same ones? Maybe all Powerpuffs prefer window carvings arranged like that in their residence; in which case, the Professor could have had the wall filled back after Bliss's departure to repurpose the room. Like I said, it's a huge stretch, but by no means impossible.

Oh, no worries - I knew you were just sharing an idea based on the possibility of the upcoming PPG project taking that route - it's a neat concept!

To add onto what could happen besides my idea from the post thread I linked above, I'd like to bring up the PPG video game Relish Rampage as an intriguing way the Powerpuff Girls were once transitioned into 3D while staying true to the original series style.

That information is wrong, Lucy47000. It was never confirmed what style the PPG reboot would be animated in, because it hasn't been greenlit for production. AI overviews often show incorrect facts, so you shouldn't rely on them unless they cite their sources.

With that said, Craig McCracken did confirm he had mixed ideas for the art direction of the series, as was discussed here before: https://powerpuffgirls.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000000070990/ That's probably why the AI overview thought it was confirmed for sure that the new series would be mainly 3D animated.

I found something that could give us a pretty good clue. I thought I had a vague memory of an official artwork of the Powerpuff Girls in this exact same pose, so I looked up artwork of the Girls. Sure enough, I came across a couple pictures that looked just like it!

It seems the art of the Rowdyruff Boys here was traced from this official art... it's quite a well-made fan art, I'll give it that, but I knew it couldn't be official RRB material when I realized their faces match the Girls' personalities better than the Boys' own. In an official piece, I would have at least expected Brick to have a more devious expression.

I'm surprised Townsville even looks spotless. Usually, the Girls' sessions of carnage leave the city in pieces. Although, it'd make sense if these foes are the only ones they've faced recently... you can't put the town in the Girls' attack range if you keep failing to make it into its borders.

I liked Bliss's concept & believe it had merit (hence my answer to the poll), but also despise the execution of her place in the series lore.

In the past I have made the attempt to explain to myself how the details of her story provided in the special do not necessarily contradict the events of The Powerpuff Girls Movie using a series of technicalities; while it logically worked as far as I was concerned, doing so really made it clear to me that the writers of the special were not handling the already-established series lore with care at all.

With that said, if anyone's interested in how exactly I went about doing that, I ought to stuff it all in a blog post.

For mostly just being the characters' roles being switched around, this was a pretty funny rendition of the story. I like the idea of a designated "protector" of Townsville, it just makes sense. That said, I'm not sure Blossom would be as crazy about her bow as the Mayor was about his hat in Impeach Fuzz.

Maybe Major Man could have claimed the Powerpuff Hotline instead of Blossom's bow, & she'd lose her cool out of concern that he wouldn't respond to calls on it? That way the story would still lead into the Girls confronting Major Man, while keeping the Girls' sense of justice. Just a thought.

I personally selected "No!" because, as with any Powerpuff with a community to defend, she's got her hands full.

Also, "Addicted to Animals" sounds like something else that's putridly hilarious out of context.

I've known The Powerpuff Girls for the great bulk of my life, having caught an episode on occasion through Boomerang, back when it bothered to give old shows time in the spotlight during the daytime.

Besides that, I know that my interest in the show really ramped up around early to mid-2014... Once I had seen the entire series, I'd just rewatch episodes randomly (alongside whatever else I sorta liked back then, whenever I felt like it). I remember when Dance Pantsed came out... good times!

I found Sand Hassle a pretty great read too! It's a refresher when the Girls remind us they're here to uphold fairness for all, not just for Townsville's people.

That said, I'm not sure what "the CV Movement" was, or at least I wasn't able to find anything about a social movement with that name. I'd appreciate some clarification on that, whether it's an uncommon name for a specific movement or a typo of one.

I'll be honest - I didn't realize Small World was the name of a special, & those four episodes were its parts. I guess it wasn't as heavily promoted as Power of Four back in the day.

Putting that aside, what did you think of Power of Four?
