Narrator: The city of Townsville!
(Close-up of the Powerpuff Girls' fists in the air.)
Blossom: (from o.c., echoing) We have a dream!
(Back to the skyline, turning down toward the street.)
Narrator: A city of growth and prosperity.
(Extreme close-up of the Powerpuff Girls' faces, turning up toward their raised hands.)
Bubbles: (echoing) Of the people, for the people, and by the people!
(Pan along the skyline.)
Narrator: A city defended by three girls.
(Pan slowly across the Powerpuff Girls' faces.)
Buttercup: (echoing) That we, the citizens of Townsville...
(The front door of the Utonium residence, panning up towards the girls' bedroom.)
Narrator: Girls of strength and integrity.
(Close-up of the Powerpuff Girls from behind, turning up toward their heads. They are at a podium.)
Blossom: (echoing) ...promise to uphold the virtues of our city.
(The room, seen from between other buildings.)
Narrator: Yes, this city. (Zoom in on the room.) Our city. Defended by... (Close-up of the Powerpuff Girls at the podium.) ...the Powerpuff Girls!
Bubbles: And furthermore...(raising two "V for Victory" hand signs) Wir sind Townsvillers!
(Pull back to the sound of clapping. They stands on their bed in their room, facing Professor Utonium.)
Professor Utonium: Uh...that was quite a speech, girls. (He stops clapping.) But why did you even bother writing it? No one's running against you girls. No one ever does.
Buttercup: Oh, Professor! If George Washington used snails instead of greyhounds to pull his sled, there'd be no trees for Honest Abe to shove from the highest mountain.
Professor Utonium: What?
Blossom: That's right! (jumping down, crossing to him) We are fierce pint-sized powerhouses, and we never give up the fight. Besides, we love to kiss all of those adorable babies! (He crooks his arms as if cradling an infant and kisses the air loudly.)
(Balloons and streamers rain down, and the scene changes to a large campaign banner strung up outside: "VOTE FOR PUFF POWER.")
Bubbles: (from o.c.) Vote for Puff power! (Pull back; they are stumping in front of a crowd of apathetic people.) Vote for Puff power! Vote for Puff power!
(Pan across the city as she repeats this 'slogan' over and over; the farther out we go, the more her voice echoes. Stop on a city outside Townsville and zoom in; the buildings part to reveal Major Man's house. Inside, Major Man is asleep in his bed. He suddenly wakes up, looking very angry. Back to the Powerpuff Girls.)
Bubbles: Vote for Puff power!
Major Man: (from o.c., echoing) SHUT UP!! (Pan to him, now standing in the park.) I say, shut up!
(Quick series of close-ups of surprised onlookers, including the Talking Dog and the Powerpuff Girls themselves, then pull back to show Major Man facing the Powerpuff Girls from the back of the crowd.)
Man: (with mounting enthusiasm) "Shut up"?..."Shut up"?..."Shut up"??! Yeah! I like it! "Shut up"! I like it a lot! "Shut up"! What an excellent campaign!
Talking Dog: Yes, yes, very concise.
Woman 1: And straightforward.
Woman 2: He's got my vote!
Man: Yeah! Major Man should run for protector of Townsville!
Talking Dog: Yeah!
Woman 1: Yeah!
Woman 2: Yeah!
Powerpuff Girls: (in unison, small voice) No.
(A newspaper spins into view. The front page shows a photo of an irritated Major Man and the following headline: "MAJOR MAN ENTERS CAUCUS IN LOUD RAUCUS." A campaign poster for the Powerpuff Girls is seen, and they put on buttons promoting themselves. Another paper spins up; this time, the picture of Major Man shows him looking a bit bewildered. This headline reads "MAJOR MAN LEADS IN POLLS!!!!!" We see Major Man asleep in his bed, then the Powerpuff Girls' campaign-mobile rolling through the streets. Back to Major Man, napping in bed, then to an assembly line of crying babies rolling past the Powerpuff Girls. They kiss each one on the head. Another paper appears, with the headline "MAJOR MAN POPULAR AMONG POPULOUS." Close-up of a ballot as it receives a check mark by Major Man's name; next we see a stream of ballots being dropped into boxes.)
(One final newspaper spins toward the camera - its headline: "MAJOR MAN WINS!" Before it reaches us, cut to Major Man asleep on his porch. A paper is flung into view, plastering itself across his face. He instantly wakes up and yanks it away.)
Major Man: LEAVE ME ALO...Huh?
(He realizes it's just a newspaper and reads it. Now we see it with the aforementioned headline and a picture of a rather bleary Major Man. He drops it and smiles broadly. Dissolve to him in the Mayor's office, pointing and laughing stupidly at the losers of the election, removing Blossom's bow, then cut to outside Townsville Hall. The Powerpuff Girls crash through the window and land headfirst, well away from the city, as the laughter continues. Back in the office, Major Man puts the bow in his pocket. Dissolve to the Powerpuff Girls, sitting dejected and disheveled among garbage and Antidote X far from the city. They whimper softly as a bird lands near them. Fade to black.)
(Snap to an intercom speaker on the Mayor's desk.)
Mayor: (from o.c.) Miss Bellum!
Ms. Bellum: (over the intercom, wearily) Yes, Mayor? (Pull back to show Fuzzy.)
Mayor: I've got an emergency! What am I supposed to do?
Ms. Bellum: (normal voice) Well, first off... i reckon you should call the Powerpuff Girls. Major Man won't help you. He's too conceited.
(Close-up of the hotline, buzzing. There is no one is in the bedroom.)
Mayor: I've got an urgent emergency over here!
(No response)
Mayor: (over hotline) I said...
Miss Bellum: Mayor, it sounds like you're talking to a dead...
Mayor: I've got an emergency! Get here quick!
(Still nothing. Cut to a montage of the Mayor calling, the hotline left idle, and the Powerpuff Girls still exiled.)
Mayor: Emergency! Emergency! E-MER-GEN-CY! Gaaah! WHY IS MAJOR MAN SO CONCEITED? AND WHY AREN'T THE GIRLS PICKING UP?
(Weeks later)
Mayor: The Girls haven't responded in weeks. And if I have to open another pickle jar by myself, I'm gonna break my back!
Miss Bellum: Major Man isn't a real hero. He doesn't care about our town, he only cares about himself.
Mayor: Yeah. protector or not, we gotta impeach Major Man and get our old protectors back.
Miss Bellum: But...we don't know where they are.
Mayor: No, but we know someone who does.
(Close-up of the idle hotline in the bedroom. It begins to ring. Professor Utonium tiptoes into view past him and stops at the stand the phone sits on. He picks it up.)
Professor Utonium: (drawling) Hello. Thank goodness it's you, Mayor!...Yes...Yes, of course. Meet me at the park outside of town in fifteen minutes.
(Wipe to a bird pulling at what appears to be a blade of grass. Pull back to show it on top of Buttercup's head - the "grass" is a strand of her hair. This bird is the one that landed next to the Powerpuff Girls after they were kicked out of the Mayor's office.)
Powerpuff Girls: (in unison, to the tune of "The Old Gray Mare") The old gray girls, they ain't what they used to be, ain't what they used to be... (The Mayor runs into view; close-up of the Powerpuff Girls.)
Mayor: Girls! We found you! We need you back, girls. You need to protect Townsville again!
Blossom: We're all washed up, Mayor. (The bird pulls Buttercup's hair strand loose and flies o.c.) Nobody wants us as protectors anymore.
Buttercup: And besides, the Antidote X around this garbage has stripped us of our powers anyway!
(Cut back and forth between each the Mayor, Miss Bellum and the Powerpuff Girls on the following six lines.)
Mayor: But my chores aren't being done anymore!
Bubbles: We don't care.
Miss Bellum: He's turned the town into a mess! (Zoom in on Buttercup.)
Buttercup: We don't care.
Mayor: He's tarnishing the image of what it is to be a hero! (Zoom in on Bubbles.)
Bubbles: We don't care. (Cut to Professor Utonium, also on the scene.)
Professor Utonium: And Blossom... he has your bow.
(This gets Blossom's attention as her eyes go wide open in shock. Now she has reason to care about what Major Man is doing in what should be their position as protectors of Townsville and attempt to stop him.)
(Cut to inside Major Man's dirty house, seen from floor level; Buttercup kicks the door open.)
Blossom: MAJOR MAN!!
(She begins to cross the room; passing the items she mentions in sequence.)
Blossom: You can throw us out of Townsville and into that Antidote X, and I don't mind the junk on the floor, and the barbed wire's a nice touch, and I kinda like that beat-up old flivver. (stopping in front of Major Man) But no one, I mean no one, takes my leader bow! Now give it back! (Major Man gets in her face.)
Major Man: I'll wrestle you for it.
(Close-up of a bell being rung to start a fight. Pull back to show an arena full of cheering spectators, with a wrestling ring in the middle. Flashbulbs pop all around.)
Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen!
(Close-up of a referee, microphone in hand. He is calling the fight.)
Announcer (Referee): (pointing left o.c.) In this corner, weighing in at 55 pounds, currently powerless, defending her and her sisters' titles as protectors - and her bow: leader of ex-protectors, the Powerpuff Girls, Blossom!
(Pan quickly in the direction he is pointing. Blossom stands in that corner and waves timidly; she has stripped down to trunks and undershirt. The crowd cheers wildly. Back to the referee.)
Referee: (pointing right o.c.) And in this corner, weighing in at 100 pounds, the present protector: Major Man!
(Pan to him in the opposite corner of the ring, dressed in his usual suit, holding the bow, and ready for a scrap. The crowd boos him.)
Major Man: Don't forget my family...
(In time with the next line, three other people step into view. The first appears on his right and is tall and thin. The second, on his left, is very fat. Major Man lifts his leg to allow the third - very short - to come forward.)
Major Man: ...my cousin, grandmother and nephew! (The crowd boos again.)
Blossom: Hey! That's not fair! Maybe it would be if i had my powers, but not in this situation where i'm a normal little girl!
Major Man: But if you wrestle one, you have to wrestle 'em all!
Blossom: But it's four against one!
Major Man: Oh, all right, fine. Pick someone!
Blossom: Oh, well, okay. Then I pick...
(Cut to her perspective of Bubbles and Buttercup, panning across them to Miss Bellum, and stop on her.)
Blossom: ...uh...Miss Bellum! (This choice surprises the whole crowd)
Miss Bellum: What?
Mayor: What?
Buttercup: What?
Bubbles: What? (Back to Blossom at the corner post.)
Blossom: (also surprised) What?
Miss Bellum: What's wrong with you?! Take your sisters, please!
Blossom: No, no, no. Get up here, Miss Bellum, and show Major Man what for! This is your chance to prove yourself!
(Miss Bellum climbs nervously into the ring. No sooner does she stand upright than a huge fist slams into the side of her head for a knockout punch. She is reduced to a shaking wreck on the canvas; Blossom watches uneasily as two paramedics carry her away on a stretcher. Miss Bellum groans softly.)
Blossom: (sarcastically) Thanks a lot.
(The bell rings. Major Man picks the powerless Blossom up, spins her in one hand, and throws her across the ring. She hits one of the ropes, which catapults her back to slam into Major Man's back. She tumbles to the canvas. A tag is exchanged, and Major Man's grandma rolls back and forth across Blossom to squash her flat. Another tag is made; now Major Man's cousin peels the girl off the mat and runs across the ring with her. Blossom is rammed into the corner post face first and thrown down. The cousin tags out, and Major Man's nephew jumps in and performs a suplex on Blossom - pulling her up by his shoulders and turning her to slam down on her back.)
(Major Man and his three family members each leap onto a corner post. Blossom looks around, realizing what they are about to do, and begins to scream. The four leap from their perches toward the center of the ring to deliver the finisher. Cut to Bubbles and Buttercup, still at ringside.)
Bubbles: Hey! That's not fair! (They dash into the ring, seemingly having regained their powers.)
(Buttercup plows into the nephew, while Bubbles rams the cousin and grandma. These three are disposed of in short order. Overhead view of Blossom, who has continued screaming through all of this and not even noticed her sisters intervene on her behalf. She finally stops and looks around; pan slowly across the ring and the three unconscious fighters, to the sound of wild cheering. Back to Blossom, who flexes her arms thinking she did it while screaming.)
Blossom: Oh! Well, I guess I don't know my standalone strength when i'm powerless.
(The words are barely out of her mouth before Major Man lands on her, having been overlooked by Bubbles and Buttercup while they took care of his relatives. She pokes his head out from underneath the caped hero as the referee slides in to start the count.)
Referee: One! (He pounds the mat.)
Major Man: Well... (laughing) ...I whomped your butt, Powerless Puff. Which means I'm still the protector. (laughing, holding up bow) And I keep your precious bow!
(Blossom's eyes pop wide open; Major Man slowly lowers the bow toward his pocket. The referee raises his hand to deliver the second count, and the hat moves closer toward Major Man's hair. Close-up of Blossom, then of the referee's hand as it hits the mat.)
Referee: (from o.c., half speed, reverberating) Two!
(The bow continues its descent, and the referee's hand goes up for the third and final count that will end the match and name Major Man the winner and remain protector. Extreme close-up of Blossom's eyes, then pull back. The bow is in Major Man's pocket. A low rumble begins to make itself heard, and a very worried look comes over Major Man's face as he begins to shake a bit. Suddenly he flies into the air and o.c.)
Blossom: MAJOR MAN!!
(The referee stops his count and looks up, surprised and shocked by Blossom's sudden and furious second wind. Back to Blossom)
Mayor: NOBODY TAKES MY BOW!!
(Major Man looks worriedly up at his pocket and back to the camera, realizing the fatal mistake he just made and he's screwed now that he's awoken the beast inside Blossom, who has regained her powers, and she's going to give Major Man one heck of a thrashing.)
Blossom: (low, menacing voice) Let's get it on.
(Before Major Man can do anything, Blossom rushes up, grabs him, and slams him to the mat twice. She administers a pile driver, smashing him headfirst onto the canvas, then delivers several punches to the face of the dazed hero. Now Blossom backhands him across the face, backs up across the ring, and uses the ropes to sling herself toward her opponent again. She pulls her fist back to deliver a flying punch. The blow spins Major Man around and deposits him face up on the mat. Now Blossom stands atop the corner post, flashing bullhorns with both hands, as the crowd cheers. The camera turns around to show Major Man, still prone and dazed, before the little girl jumps. Flashbulbs pop behind him as she sails through the air in slow motion. He lands squarely on Major Man midsection. The impact is seen three times at normal speed, zooming in closer each time, after which Major Man falls back in slow motion, hitting the mat with Major Man's eyes changing to X's. He's out for the count. The referee leans into view.)
Referee: (pounding mat in time) One, two, three! You're out!
(The crowd cheers once again as more flashbulbs explode all around the ring. Close-up of Blossom, standing atop the unconscious Major Man with his arms raised in triumph. After a moment, his adversary raises his head as he comes to again.)
Major Man: (dazed) What happened?
Blossom: I'll take that. (She picks the bow from Major Man's pocket and sets it back on her head.)
Referee: (from o.c.) The winner... (Cut to him at the mic.) ...and new protectors, the ex-protectors, the Powerpuff Girls!
(Pull back; Bubbles and Buttercup are in the ring as well, looking on, as yet more flashbulbs go off. Cut to a close-up of the home hotline, buzzing. Pull back as Blossom, properly dressed, picks it up; her sisters float nearby.)
Blossom: Yes, Mayor. (Cut to him in his office with a phone in hand.)
Mayor: Emergency!
(A crash shakes the camera. The girls are in the office, having smashed in through the ceiling.)
Blossom: What is it, Mayor?
Mayor: Help me catch my pig!
(On the end of this, a pig runs across in front of him. The girls give chase, with him close behind.)
Narrator: (laughing) Oh, girls! You've always got my vote.
(The standard end shot comes up.)
Narrator: And so, for the very first time, the day is saved - thanks to the Mayor of Townsville!
