<p>No, to be honest, I think that <i>you're </i>the one blinded by the Nostalgia Glasses because you want to believe that the new show does, in fact, have some sort of significance to the franchise given how ill-received it is in comparision to the original series, which is still a <i>far </i>more respected series. You still want to try and justify it's existence in some manner, so you've created an argument in saying that it's not a reboot but a sequel. </p>

<p>Until this post you had my greatest respect (Not trying to be arugant but most people Say: It is because [YouTuber here] said it is] so I respected you for trying) but I have only been aware of PPG for about a year and half. From the beginning I had a different view point as I learned of 3 shows and watch 1 episode from each on the same day.  </p><p>But that is beside the point. <p>Here's the problems with the reboot: </p><p>The girls keep getting captured when just some simple, quick thinking can free them. Trapped by snakes? Use just enough super strength to push the snakes off without killing them. Tied up by rope...it's rope, they can just spread their arms and get untied. </p><p>The writing is predictable and sometimes kinda lazy. Oh the alien we just found out can shapeshift is Bliss' boyfriend how...seen before. There's something the girls need to use their powers for, the ones we know aren't one offs? Not if it complicates the plot! </p><p>The action is so boring, yeah kids are watching but kids need to be exposed to serious topics and to "scary" scenes because it's the only way they'll learn to deal with this stuff because apparently the gosh darn parents of this era don't want to talk about anything to their kids. </p><p>

The original had problems, heck it had bad episodes however the writing was normally clever and with the not one off powers there were reasons for them to not work. </p>

<p>This series isn't as <i>obnoxious</i> as <i>Teen Titans GO!</i>, but it's certainly as, if not <i>more</i>, lazy in it's production. It's certainly as unfunny, with the humor just being... stale. </p><p>That's not me seeing it through the eyes of a fan of the original series, BTW. That's me seeing things through the eyes of someone who understands comedy in animation. </p><p>The original series, <i>Dexter's Laboratory</i>, <i>The Spectacular Spider-Man</i>, most of the old shows that I grew up with were <i>far</i> funnier than this new series, which relies on memes and trends to be relevant instead of focusing on being a good series. </p><p>The original series didn't rely on trends. It relied on talent. Both in writers and artists. Same thing for <i>Dexter's Lab</i>, same thing for <i>The Spectacular Spider-Man</i>. Shows that were <i>acclaimed</i> because of how well-written and executed they were. </p><p>What was the highest rating a single episode of the 2016 series got? 5.7. What was the highest rating an episode of the original series received? 8.9. <i>Huge</i> difference in reception. And those ratings were <i>averaged</i>. </p><p>I'm not telling you you're wrong for liking the new series, but understand that the reason that most older fans don't like it isn't because it's not the original series, it's because it's not... <i>good</i>. It's not funny, it's not well-written, it's hypocritical (removing a strong female supporting character due to an "arousing" appearance right when they making 2 of the lead characters twerk with Allegro.), it's stereotypical (Donny being basically a parody of the transgender community.), and the new villains flat-out <i>suck</i>, I'm sorry. </p><p>I'm <i>all</i> for introducing new elements into an older franchise, believe me. I'm <i>all</i> for invigorating new life into a franchise that has long since died out. However, you need to make those elements <i>good</i>. You need to make them <i>interesting</i>. </p>

<p>The 2016 series tries to introduce new elements, but it ends up falling flat on it's face. </p><p>The <i>only</i> element I can say was a good call was making the girls' cell-phones connected to the Hotline, but then again, that's a <i>really</i> small element that doesn't have much impact on the series as a whole. </p>

<p>Also, you do realize that even <i>if</i> a new series is intended to be in continuity with it's predecessor, it can still be counted as a <i>reboot</i>, right? </p><p>The best example I can bring up of this is 1984's <i>The Return of Godzilla</i>. A reboot of the Godzilla franchise after a 10-year hiatus, it's actually a direct sequel to the original <i>Godzilla</i> from 1954. It may be a sequel, but it's still a reboot of the franchise through and through. </p><p>So even <i>if</i> the 2016 series is in continuity with the 1998 series, it's still, officially, a <i>reboot</i>. </p>

<p>Not a kid. A teenager. I am a Teenager. </p><p>The 2016 series continues to get better every time a new episode releases. But I have come to terms with the fact the first At least half of season 1 completely killed it. Yes the Sporde was predictable but well Acted (Or is it voiced?). And did anyone predict Jemmica's true identity? And EVERYONE has agreed Silico is great! </p><p>And no matter how cringe Season 1 was at least we never had A very Special Blossom in the Reboot (Not Restart). </p>
